I saw a married couple who came to me for consult. They were looking for ways to lower the blood sugar of the husband which was always >200. He has already nerve damage judging from the symptom of tingling and numbness. I'm sure he also has vascular and renal complications.
What was significant was the wife. I noted her to have depression and no sooner did she confess that she was being abused. I feel so sorry for her. She was trapped in the marriage, claiming that she has to be strong for the family and the kids.
She couldn't tell anyone about it for fear of the husband or the fear from being talked about in the inner circle.
Which bring me to a point, as what Armstrong-Coster wrote in her book Living and Dying with Cancer
